So I've been scanning some old photo albums of when I was a kid. I had forgotten we had some of these, but I sure have enjoyed looking at them.
It seems like each picture reminds me of a hundred thoughts -- many of which I had forgotten! Some of them are little details, some of them are funny stories.
We didn't have much growing up, but that isn't what I remember when I think about my childhood. I remember how blessed I was to have a family that loved me, a home where I felt safe, where I knew that my parents loved each other, and that they loved me and my sisters too.
I am also reminded of the brevity of this life. Some of these pictures feel like yesterday, but they were twenty years ago. I suppose the great challenge for us in this is to remember to frequently find moments to cherish in life, because those are the things that, when remembered, make us smile. (And it doesn't hurt to capture those on film, either...for the memory is only able to store so much at one time.)
